Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 cup dal, typically toor dal or moong dal
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 teaspoons salt, plus more to taste
  • Achaar, for serving
  • Ghee, for serving

Method

  1. Wash the rice and dal thoroughly.
  2. Add the rice and dal to the Instant Pot with 4 cups of water.
  3. Stir in turmeric and salt.
  4. Pressure cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
  7. Serve with achaar and ghee.
